Tips for students

Prodigality as a pitfall for students.

Prodigal students are rampant in the school systems today. Such students loiter about outside the school walls while the school lessons are on. Many of our streets in the cities are filled with student wanderers who left their homes for school but would not stay in the school to learn. Such students are given to riotous living like the prodigal son in the bible (Luke 15:13). You will find them in restaurants, food vendor’s corners, snacks shops and in the market places while they should be in their classes, truants are fond of socializing with the opposite sex, playing games and roaming about the streets during the school hours. Traits of truancy manifest when a student habitually comes late to school and gets home late after the school. Truants are not students of success. Most times, truants drop out school to become touts in the society. Christian students must jealously guard against traits of truancy in their lives. Now is the right time to identify and remove traits that are counterproductive to your success goals.

The benefits of smiling

Smiling expresses love, joy, pleasantness, affection, happiness and peace to external world. It creates facial muscles relaxation and gives health to the body system. A smiling face shows a joyful countenance of a happy youth (Acts 2: 28). It also reflects a good, peaceful, cheerful and loving countenance. A smiling face adds beauty to your outlook and people around. Serving God or humanity with smile on your face is the best thing you can do yourself. When you seem to be exhausted and tired because of the loads of work you have done, continue to wear a smiling face as much as you still have service to render.

The common outlook of most youths is a frown face and disquieted countenance.  The psychologists affirm that such countenance result from emotional disturbances which manifest in anger, fear, worry and anxiety. A sad countenance could result from disappointing or frustrating experience of a youth. The medical practitioners advise that man should avoid frown face because it is inimical to his health. A smiling face and or momentary laughter will do your body more good than imagined.

Youths who put up frown faces and tough countenance are usually dangerous to the society. The outlook of cultist, thugs, drug addicts, hoodlums, vagabonds, miscreants and garage touts are always tough and fearful. Dangerous youths do not appear with threatening languages and terrorizing dispositions. As a Christian, your outlook should be friendly and peace-loving. You must put up a smiling face at all times regardless of the rigour of work you are doing.

Do the right thing at the right time.

Youth is the morning of life. Morning is time for labour, effort and profitable engagement. The toil of the morning paves way for the pleasure of evening tide. Rather than bend their minds towards successful achievement some youths spend precious time on adult considerations such as who and when to marry. Imagine! That is a classic case of putting the cart before the horse. First things first please. You may be able to boast of a good body build and a sharp brain perhaps, but marriage entails more than those. There are lots of physical, emotional and spiritual preparations without which any marriage considerations will be sheer foolishness. Why then waste precious time speculating who your marriage partner will be when all you are expected to do now is prepare your life for that expected future?

Two young boys wanted to enjoy a horse ride. One spent a whole day contemplating how wonderful an experience it would be, the other went ahead to source the gate fee needed at the horse race course. Guess who rode the horse at the end of the day? Right! The second boy did, of course   To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Do you want to be a success in life? Then leave ff foolish daydreaming and face the heat of the day now so that other god things will naturally gravitate towards you. Remember, nothing succeeds like success.

Often times we are the architect of our lives: success or failure; industry or laziness; disciplined or recklessness and usefulness. In life, when people fail they blame others. All unsuccessful ones either complain or explain. Adam put the blame of his failure upon Eve; Eve, the serpent. The buck should stop on your table. Blaming others for your failure is failure too. The implication is that you have lost control or given the control of your life to others. Stop all excuses! And take charge of your life.
